Investment Management Consultants Association Seeks Award Nominations
DENVER—November 11, 2008—Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA®) seeks nominations for the 2009 Richard J. Davis Ethics Award and 2009 IMCA Journal Award.
The Richard J. Davis Ethics Award honors the author(s) of an article that has made a significant contribution to advancing the understanding and knowledge of investment management consulting and/or private wealth management in the area of ethics, and/or the fiduciary, legal, or regulatory issues that affect these professional practices. The relevant legal and regulatory regimes include, but are not limited to, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Uniform Prudent Investor Act, the Uniform Management of Institutional Funds Act, and the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act.
The award first was presented in 2004. The individuals and the papers for which they have received the Davis Award are the following:
- Robert Prentice, J.D., Ethical Decision Making: More Needed Than Good Intentions, Financial Analysts Journal 63, no. 6, November/December 2007.
- Joseph Holt, J.D., Turning to the Positive Side of Ethics in the Financial Services Industry, Journal of Investment Consulting 7, no. 2, 2005.
- Meir Statman, Ph.D., Fairness in Finance, IMCA Monitor 18, no. 4, July/August 2003.
- Gordon Marino, Ph.D., Ethics Experts and the Problem of Self-Deception, Journal of Investment Consulting 6, no. 2, Winter 2003/2004.
The IMCA Journal Award honors the author(s) of an original article that represents the best writing for the previous year germane to the investment management consulting and/or private wealth management professions. Each piece will be evaluated for its academic and analytical vision and originality of research.
Recipients include the following: Ross Barry; Ana Cascon, Paul Greenwood; Ronald Kahn; A. Craig MacKinlay, CIMA®; Jianping Mei; Matthew Morey; Michael Moses; Andrew Rudd; William Shadwick, Hersh Shefrin, Frank Sortino; Meir Statman; and Ron Surz, CIMA®.
Both awards will be presented at the IMCA 2009 Spring Professional Development Conference, which will be held May 3–5, 2009, in San Diego.
Nominations should include the citation information for the article. Submit nominations no later than December 12, 2008, to:
