IMCA Sells Out Second Annual Advanced CIMA Workshop at Wharton
2008 Marks Twentieth Anniversary of Certified Investment Management Analyst Designation
DENVER—July 29, 2008—Last week 150 Certified Investment Management AnalystSM professionals descended on The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, for the second annual Advanced CIMA® Workshop: The Best of Wharton. The sold-out conference commemorated the twentieth anniversary of the CIMA designation and featured advanced sessions taught by Wharton faculty.
Professors presented subjects ranging from confronting the global retirement challenge to developing a customer-focused marketing strategy, from socially responsible investing to hedge fund replication. Other sessions included performance in private equity with Anil Kapur of Global Infrastructure Advisory Services, and strategies for navigating new market territories with Franck Schuurmans, Ph.D., of Decision Strategies International.
“We have received extremely positive feedback regarding the assortment of topics and the caliber of presenters at last week’s conference,” said Dede Pahl, IMCA’s executive director. “The Advanced CIMA Workshop is shaping up to be the must-attend conference for senior-level CIMA professionals. Registrations doubled from 2007, but we will continue to limit enrollments in order to better replicate the classroom experience and allow for more interaction with the Wharton professors.”
IMCA and Wharton have partnered for 20 years to provide rigorous educational programs for investment consultants. In addition to conducting the CIMA designation program, Wharton hosts IMCA’s Alternative Investments and Endowments and Foundations advanced certificate programs. In 1988 the first class of CIMA professionals had 34 graduates, but today more than 5,500 designees have met the experience, education, and ethical standards required to obtain the credentials.
The CIMA designation program also is offered through the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and IMCA’s new Certified Private Wealth AdvisorSM (CPWA®) designation is delivered exclusively through The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
With several back-to-back, sold-out conferences in 2008 already completed, IMCA is on track to host a combined 4,500 attendees at its eight conferences this year. Click here for more information about IMCA’s designations and upcoming conferences.
